The relation with each row’s envelope narrowed to the samples it holds.

A row whose envelope a selection trimmed may start or end in a hole of its coordinate; its envelope shrinks to the stretches the trim reaches, and a row reaching none lies in a hole and is dropped. Arguments are as for with_runs.
