A sampling step said the way acquisition is quoted, or nothing.

Only a step measured in time gets one: a rate is the reciprocal of a duration, and one over a distance is not how anyone states channel spacing. Only an exact one, too – a step of 0.0039999998 s is 250.0000125 Hz, and rounding that to 250 Hz claims a precision the step does not have.
