read_operation_id(
    snap ,

Return the id of decoding a resource under non-default options, or None.

snap changes which coordinates the same bytes decode to, so a non-default value makes a different array; the default reads the stored thing itself and derives nothing. Which dimensions are named, and how, is the same decode however it was spelled.
